I received the package from Australia! Time for my 100th post giveaway!

Thank you, Lindi, at Quilty Threads and Other Things. I've never received mail from Australia. How fun! In the package was a scarf--with ribbons woven through the yarn, a piggy bath scrubber, bath salts, warm black socks, and candies--with cute little koalas on them.

Drum roll please. Thank you. And now I am announcing my own 100th post giveaway. It is the pattern, 4 Patch Stacked Posies by H.D. Designs and more goodies. Leave a comment telling me how and when you started quilting and you will be entered in my giveaway--making sure I can find you if your name is drawn. If you don't have a blog you can still enter by leaving a comment with your email or clicking on my profile and sending me an email. Spread the word.
Blessings,
P. S. I will draw on my birthday, Oct. 26, at 9:00pm.

  1. Wow! I can't believe that I am the first to comment on this 100th post give-away. Seems like I have been quilting for a lifetime, but actually seriously for about 12 years. I learned to sew from my mother and grandmother in childhood and learned to love all aspects of machine and handwork.

  4. Hi, Marilyn: Congrats on your 100th post!!! And thank you for stopping by my blog and your nice words. I started quilting in 2000 when I took a class with friend and co-worker Mary. Looking back, it wasn't the best beginning class, but it didn't matter. I was hooked!

  5. Hi Marilyn. Wow, your 100th post. Good for you but watch out...posting is addictive. As for my story....I started quilting, rather piecing in the mid 80's as a challenge from my aunt. She pieced by hand and I thought there had to be a better way...My first project was the "apple core"...yes kind of hard but I didn't know that back then...LOL...anyway that how I started and now I can't live without it.

  6. Hey Marilyn

My mom never sewed (with a machine)though she did lots of other needle arts. I made my first quilt for my mom and dad before 1979 sometime. I don't know why I did, but I did. I stopped for a long time, then started again making a few baby quilts before I was married so more than 21 years ago. I love the color, love the creative process, love the giving. Congratulations on 100 posts!

  7. Congratulations on your 100th post, Marilyn! Isn't it exciting when you reach that milestone?

OK, I probably shuldn't enter in case I win and everyone thinks it's a set up, but i do love that pattern, so...

I've been quilting for 3 years. Wish I had discovered it sooner, 'cause now, i know i'll never have enough time to make all that i want to.
I started when i walked into a quilting shop to get my old sewing machine fixed to do some hems. My little socks were knocked right off at the displays of quilts! I just had to have a go. Little did i realise what an addiction it would become!
My Grandmother would be proud of me, though, if she were still alive. She wasn't a quilter - she used to do the most beautiful hand embroidery. I have some of her pieces proudly displayed around the house. She would have loved embroidering pieces for me to use in the quilts.

  8. Congratulations on 100 posts!

I started quilting the summer before last because I wanted an excuse to visit my grandma more often.

  9. I just started quilting this summer, though I'd fumbled my way through a patchwork pillow for my mother a couple years ago.

This summer my mother brought a kit and we made a beautiful foundation pieced table runner together.

What fun! Almost as much fun as blogging! Congratulations on your 100th!

  11. Congratulations on 100 posts and thanks for the comment on my blog. I will e-mail you later. I've done needlework and sewing all of my life - starting with embroidery at about age 7. My mom taught me to hand-piece when I was in junior high. She made my templates out of sandpaper! I did my first hand-quilting many years later, quilting four tops my grandmother had pieced at least 40 years earlier. I'm a fourth (at least) generation Texas quilter!

  12. Hi Marily
Love your blog. I started quilting November 2007. I spent a weekend with my sister and she was going to teach me how to make a snuggle quilt. Well she bought me a new sewing machine and has been giving me pointers since. I am just hooked. I still need lots of pointers, but my new found love for quilting keeps me going. And I get better and better with each new item I sew.

  13. Congrats on 100 posts!
I think it was 1995 I attended a workshop to make a lap size quilt (which hangs on my wall in the hallway). Another workshop or two along the way and I've been seriously into quilting for the last few years. I only wish there were more hours in a day.
